Start with the space
A reading corner, kitchen counter and dining table need different light. Before buying a fixture, notice where the room feels too dark, where glare bothers you and which lights you actually use. That gives the project a clearer starting point than appearance alone.
Think about the controls
A fixture change is a good time to discuss dimming, switches or motion controls. The fixture, lamps and controls need to work together. Energy use depends on the selected equipment and how it is used; a new fixture does not automatically mean a lower bill.
Gather a few details
